What is a global Codex reset?
OpenAI sometimes resets usage limits for everyone at once, refilling both the 5-hour and the weekly window. Tibo, who leads Codex, usually announces it on X. This page tracks those announcements and confirmations.
When does my 5-hour limit reset?
Five hours after the window starts. When exactly the clock starts is reported by the community, not confirmed by OpenAI; Codex shows your own time under /status.
When does my weekly limit reset?
On its own seven-day clock, shown in /status. A global reset refills it early. Enter it under “Your window” to see the odds of a global reset beating it.
What is a banked reset?
A reset OpenAI grants that you can use later instead of at once. It expires, so use it before it lapses. It is not a global reset and is not counted as one here.
How are the odds worked out?
From the gaps between recent global resets, weighted toward the latest. It is a rate, not a schedule: waiting longer does not make a reset more likely. The model is experimental and its confidence is shown beside the figure.
Can this page see my usage?
No. It never touches your OpenAI account. The window time you enter stays in this browser’s storage and nowhere else.
